We would like your wedding at Lacewood to be a very special lifetime memory for both you the bride and groom, and all your family and friends. The services and options outlined below are designed to help you to create your dream wedding. To ensure you can fully enjoy the Estate and to allow time for your families and friends to relax and get to know each other, the venue is available from 2.00 pm Friday – 2:00 pm Sunday.
You have the options of having your country wedding in:
The magnificent barn can be dressed to be as rustic or as elegant to suit your taste. It can host up to 200 people and is equipped with all facilities, including a commercial kitchen, men’s and women’s toilets, a PA system, ample space for a band complete with dance floor.
Lacewood can provide accommodation for up to 32 people in total when hiring the entire estate. There are also many accommodation options close by to suit all price brackets.
Charming historic cottage. Beautifully renovated with lovely cottage garden. Three bedrooms (sleeps up to eight). Complete with fully equipped kitchen and Barbeque. ( Child friendly) (Check in 4pm – Check out 10am)
Provides five bedrooms consisting of 1 super king – 1 King (paraplegic room) (king beds can be split into twin singles) 3 Queen-size beds complete with en-suites all with own external access. Shared kitchenette and lounge facilities Can sleep up to 10. Panoramic views to the countryside. Barbeque. (Check in 4pm – Check out 10am)
The Annex, attached to the main homestead, comprises one bedroom with en-suite and conservatory/lounge area with its own private access. Looking out at the Italianate gardens.
Privately located, with its own cottage garden in a glade of silver birch and oak trees with views of the countryside. The comfortable two room historic cottage features a rustic and romantic bedroom and bathroom. Includes morning after breakfast.
Full hireage of the secluded Tuhitarata Estate homestead and gardens for two nights (2.00 pm Friday – 2:00 pm Sunday).
Includes full use of the homestead. The handsome two storied country house in a park like setting, was built in the 1860s. The magnificent stylish rooms are elegantly furnished and exude an intriguing atmosphere, reflecting the hidden history of the house as well as the owners’ own backgrounds.
This historic and grand home features a large formal dining room, large formal living room, conservatory, large country kitchen, scullery, media room, six bedrooms, 2 shared bathrooms 2 en-suite, one separate toilet and a facilities room. Also includes a large patio off the formal lounge and a swimming pool. Sleeps up to 12.
All rooms provide stunning views of the old English trees, the magnificent formal Italianate gardens, the orchard, and the rural countryside and mountain ranges beyond.
Hireage of the Homestead allows for the additional option of holding the wedding ceremony within the formal gardens. Under the grand old oak or Lavender garden
Please note the Estate Homestead can only be hired for adults. (Not child friendly)
Transport to and from the venue can be arranged for your guests so that they do not have to drive.
Lacewood is a very picturesque location. The private and secluded grounds offer backdrops of mature deciduous trees, native bush, and rural scenes. In spring the glade that surrounds the barn is full of blossom, snowdrops, daffodils and blue bells. In autumn deciduous trees surrounding the barn are a patchwork of brilliant colour. In winter the bare branches of the mature oaks, maples, birches and gingko trees offer a contrast to the magnificent kahikatea (the tallest of New Zealand’s forest trees) that are the backdrop to the barn.
Venue hire includes access to the Homestead’s large formal Italianate gardens for wedding party photos. The extensive gardens includes 100 year old oaks and other specimen trees; formal Italianate ‘garden rooms’ which feature box parterres, stone walls and formal hedging; Apple Blossom and Judas tree avenues; a spectacular wildflower meadow in spring and summer; an orchard; and snowdrops, blue bells and daffodils in spring. The surrounding farmland and the Rimutaka, Tararua and Haurangi Ranges provide an expansive and tranquil backdrop.

Your welcome to decorate the venue and choose entertainment of your choice.
Rehearsal can be scheduled with your celebrant from 3pm the day before your wedding. The dining tables for your reception will be set up prior to your arrival. Ceremony site is set up the morning of your wedding.
If your planning on having a brunch as a after wedding event and the numbers exceed 30, You will need to hire the barn for 2 days. This can be catered for by your selves or can be arranged with our preferred caterer.
